The 2012 MLB Divisional series starts tonight with two games starting with the Oakland Athletics head out east to Detroit, Michigan to play the Tigers followed by the Cincinnati Reds travel to the west coast to play the San Francisco Giants, California.
The lower seeds in this years’ divisional round host game one and two, where the higher seed hosts game three and four and if needed game five. Don’t know this is far because in the case of the Washington Nationals and the New York Yankees both have home field advantage in their leagues after start the post season on the road how is that far. Both of them are playing two teams that want on the road on Friday night and won the the “Wild Card Game” in the St. Louis Cardinals (defending World Series champions) and the Baltimore Orioles. The Nationals who have 10 more wins and the best record in the majors as to start the postseason on the road. So the Cards and Orioles get two start at home and they had to win a one game playoff just to play the Nationals and Yankees doesn’t make sense or is it far but nobody said that life was fair. I guess Bud Selig screws up again “Shocker” there. But they will go back to the 2-2-1 format next season, so this is one year thing for scheduling conflicts.
Some other changers are that now division team get to play each other in the divisional round where in seasons past that wasn’t the case even if the number one seed and the wild card team were in the same division, the wild card team would play the number two seed.
